Hi,

I have had in my possession a console model of a Stromberg Carlson, built in 1927. It has 6 legs, 4 at the front. It is made of walnut, with 2 doors at the front. I also have the work manual for the radio. It’s in pristine condition and the radio has never been tampered with. It works perfectly.  Do you have any info on the radio?

Yours Truly

Did Stromberg-Carlson ever have a contract for installing interoffice telephone wires in Florida in the 1970's?  I had an old high school buddy who worked for this company down there in the summer of 1974 and I was trying to verify this information. Any information you could provide would be appreciated.

Sincerely,

Rusty Wilbur

I had an unusual occurrence happen the other day. A neighbor’s car went out of control and ran into my garage damaging everything inside. One the items was a Stromberg Carlson console, model # RP-781WO .  I would be very grateful to you if you have any information as to a value of this unit. If you could get back to me as soon as possible I would appreciate it, the insurance adjuster wants to settle quickly.

Thank you so much.

The Strack's [stracks@capital.net]

Hi

I found your website and was surprised and pleased to find such an interest in Stromberg Carlson equipment

I have a Stromberg Carlson Radio that I have had for over 30 years. It is a table top model A Stromberg Carlson Radio Receiver 130-R is on the inside paper along with patents and other info such as it was made in Rochester, NY Manufactured by Stromberg Carlson Telephone Mfg. Co.   It has the electric eye and the wooden veneer case is fair shape Can anyone provide any information on this radio or direct me to were I may obtain some (information)? It still works and receives. It appears to be an early model short wave as well as AM. I could provide a picture if that would be helpful. I have no idea what the vintage and or value may be, and inquiring if it would be worth refinishing the case as well.

 Thanks

Hello,

I am happy to find your web page.  About 1966 my folks bought a console stereo and gave the Stromberg-Carlson to my uncle.  When my folks died earlier this year, I asked my aunt if she would trade for the console stereo.  She said yes. I go out to the garage just to run my hands over the wood. It is beautiful.  I would like to get it working again.  It is a radio receiver no.1409 PG  "Hepplewhite".  Any information would be wonderful. Thank you.

Stromberg Carlson Record Player Floor Model

Sir:

In 1948-49 while living in California, I purchased a Stromberg-Carlson Television Receiver No. TS-125-EM5.  The dealer said there were only two of the cabinets made.  The cabinet is called "Chinese Classic".  The 45-rpm record changer works as well as the LP changer.  The radio works but not well, as I don't have it connected to an outside antenna.  The TV, I don't think works.  If you could possible shed any information or knowledge, I would greatly appreciate.  I have spent hours searching online to no avail.

Thanks,

I have a Stromberg Carlson console model 662 which I have had refinished. It is generally in fine condition but two things are missing and hopefully someone out there may be able to help me.  The speaker is missing. I can see by the opening on the supporting panel that it takes a 9" inch speaker and over the years the knobs have been lost. I would like to replace the missing features. Appreciate your help. Any idea when this model was manufactured. It has been in the family since new.

I don't know if this is the correct address but anyways- I have a Stromberg-Carlson triple range megacycles radio receiver No. 130-R. If you have any info on it please let me know. Oh, it also is on a speaker/table and is in good condition. They both work. Thanks for any info.

Re: Stromberg-Carlson RF-480 Loudspeaker

Dear Members of the SC:

Does anyone have the spec sheets on the above speaker? I have one. I like to restore it to the original spec's. This speaker has 41 lbs.

ALNICO magnet. I think that it is the largest magnet ever used in a speaker.

Good Morning:  I happened upon your website and thought maybe you could give me some information.  Several years ago I was given a Stromberg Carlson Triple Range floor model radio.  It measures 12" x 38" x 24".  It is model 130-L Issue 1. It also has about 50 patent numbers listed on the label.  It works real good including the shortwave band.  Any information would be appreciated.

Good Evening:  I happened upon your messages on the internet and maybe you can give me some information.  Back in 1974 a nice lady gave me a

Stromberg Carlson Radio.  It is a floor model which measures about 38" high, 24" wide, and 12" deep.  It is Model 130-L Triple Range Issue 1. The label has about 50 patent numbers on it.  My 3 yr old grand daughter can bring in the BBC on this radio better than I can get local stations on my car radio here in Cincinnati.  I'm not looking to sell it, but maybe I should be taking better care of it.  Any information would be appreciated.

Imagine my surprise when I came across this site, is this the same Stromberg-Carlson group that was based in Rochester, New York??? My husband and I worked at S-C, Richard 30 yrs and myself 21. If this is the S-C we knew and loved, there are many wonderful memories that we have over the years. Richard is looking for a good combination receiver or transmitter unit manufactured in 1954.  And used only in a handheld field telephone TSW-10P000091 CCT Signal Corps 14105, Phila 44

Thanks for any info that we can get on this unit.

Hi   What a surprise to see Stromberg on the net.

I worked in electronic Div. from 1949 till 1960.as supervisor of production Eng. Our div was located on Carlson rd and moved to the former Bond plant in the 50's. It was always a great place to work. I moved to Calif. to a new job in Oct 1960. I heard that the Electronic div folded in the late 60’s; did any part of it move to a new location? Does the elec div have a reunion? If so where? Enjoyed viewing your home page.

I have a 1936 Stromberg Carlson upright radio. It has a label on the back that says Acoustic Labryith. Its about 4.5 feet tall and 3 feet wide. We had it professionally refinished several years ago. We have enjoyed it but are moving to a smaller home and need to sell it. Do you know about how much it is worth?

Thanks

Hi, I'm a librarian at a public library in Illinois.  A patron came in and she has some old records that were recorded on a Stromberg-Carlson record player from the 1940s.  She is trying to locate a place where she could play them, and ideally have the records recorded on a cassette tape (the recordings were made by her deceased husband and have sentimental value).  Do you have any suggestions?  Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

My father has a Stromberg & Carlson Radio/Record Player it is Beautiful. The Radio Receiver # is 1121-PG. I recently started to work on the radio because it was not working and I thought that it was such a shame to let it sit there and not try to fix it. Well I have got everything except one thing working on the unit. I am having a real problem with the tuning wiring. If there is anyone that could point me in the right direction on how to get a repair manual or some kind of diagram on how to rewire all of the strings.

Thanks,

Hello from NYC.  I have RF-475 loudspeaker in very good condition that is being used as center speaker in home theater system.  It is listed in a Terminal audio catalog from 1952 as costing $179.95, also text states that Stemberg originated coax construction with compression HF unit working thru center of LF magnet, other companies take this credit also. Does anyone know who was first with this? Does anyone have a more technical description better than what is in the catalog? It states weight 45 lbs, I did not weigh it, but have various other speakers (Altec604E) etc, and this RF-475 makes you think and plan before picking it up. Other item here is Microphone model MD-57, would like to know if they made this item in total, or is some parts like the transducer made by another company.  Have used this also, but find it does not have wide range response, fine for PA use or vocal.  Thanks for any replies

We recently acquired a Stromberg-Carlson Model 638-A radio.  The cabinet appears to be mahogany.  The last patent pending date we found inside the cabinet is 1927.  The radio still works but is very faint.  Any information you can give us and estimated value is appreciated.

Hi,

I just recently got a Stromberg-Carlson radio from my grandparent's basement.  My father said it hasn't been touched in over 40 years.  It's not in the best of shape, but to my surprise it still works!  I couldn't believe it, when we turned it on I felt like I was taken back to the 40's or 50's.  It is a model 920-L, AM/short wave radio.  Do you have any idea as to its worth and when they were manufactured?  Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

We have an old Stromberg Carlson radio Model # 846A, from the late 1920's is our best guess, 4 legs on the front, two in back.  Radio is 48" tall; cabinet is walnut with carving, flower design, on the inside of the doors.  Cabinet is in excellent shape; radio lights up but does not work otherwise. Any ideas of where to sell it and how much it is worth?  Beautiful, but takes up a lot of space.

Hello,

I need your help! I'm looking for a Stromberg Carlson labyrinth model radio I’m not looking for the tall one; this one was about 2-3 high, 2-3 feet long, and 2 feet wide. It had ribs around its knobs, on top of a flat surface with a magic eye. It had a serving tray on top that came off like a coffee table (it may be called a coffee table model). My elderly parents have had one for as long as I can remember. Before it was destroyed in a fire they used it daily. I have been looking everywhere for a replacement. If anyone has one for sale or knows of one please call or email me.    A collector told me, three years ago, that me it didn't have a great value. I can't locate him to get the model number info from the item. Having this radio would make my parents and I happy.

Thank you.

We recently acquired what we believe to be is a Stromberg-Carlson Telephone Switchboard Unit.  The brass plate on it says Stromberg-Carlson Rochester, NYF-9522It is in excellent condition and were wondering what the value of this might be, and if you might know someone who would be interested in purchasing it. We are keeping it in storage to protect it, but need to find a new home for it.  If you have any information that might help us find a home for it, please forward it to the below email address.  Thank you for your time and help with this.  Have a great day and a safe and happy holiday.

Dear Mr. Townsend:

As detailed below in a letter to Mr. Richard Bangs, I'd appreciate help or leads in attempting to do research & gather data for an upcoming article on history of Stromberg-Carlson. We are concentrating on the vacuum tube audio products, however will also detail general Company history. Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,

Subject: The History of Stromberg-Carlson 1945-1965

Hello Mr. Bangs:

My name is Roger Anderson. I'm an historian and a writer about the US Electronics Industry. Currently I am doing research for an upcoming issue of "Vacuum Tube Valley Magazine: The Classic Electronics Reference Journal". Their website is:  http://www.vacuumtube.com My Google research has led me to you, and I under-stand that you were the Supervisor of Production Engineering at Stromberg in Rochester from 1949 to 1960. This time period encompasses most of the era I will be writing about approx. 1945 to 1965. I'd be most interested & grateful for your valuable input on any aspects regarding the audio products of S-C during that period. I'm attempting also to gather data in the form of product promotional literature, schematic diagrams, service information, etc. I was lucky enough to find a gentleman who lent me a large blue binder "Sound Engineers Manual" which details service information on the Stromberg products up through about 1955. I'm hoping to find something similar that covers 1955 up through to the end of the vacuum tube products. Also seeking any promotional brochures for the '45 to late 60s era. I can guarantee the safe return of any items lent for research.  With permission, they can be copied & returned in about 2 weeks time.  I'd particularly like to interview any folks who had a direct hand in design, production and marketing at S-C. This kind of personal input adds greatly to historical accounts, which can tend to become focused solely on technical accomplishments. The "human" side of the story, if you will, adds another dimension. Again, I'd be extremely appreciative of any sort of help, or leads, that you can provide. I'd be most happy to phone at a convenient time, or can correspond through email, or in whatever fashion you might prefer to participate if you are interested in assisting in this project. All contributions will be fully attributed and acknowledged. My goal is to bring to light the many efforts and the hard work of the many folks who were directly responsible for the excellent products and reputation of Stromberg Carlson during those important years, many of which devoted their entire careers to these endeavors. That story will now finally be told.

Best regards,

Roger Harding Anderson

Hello there!

Yesterday, I took possession of a circa 1946 S/C Model #1120 from my father & mother.  They bought it used in 1963 for $50 and have been second owners ever since.  Near as we can discern it hasn't worked in over 30 years and was relegated to their basement.  It nearly became a liquor cabinet but I saved it because it was so in tact.  It even had an inspection sticker hanging from the tubes dated 3-4-46.  Can anyone tell me more about the units and how difficult it is to locate parts?  Value is secondary since I'm restoring it for myself.

Thanks!

I have a Stromberg-Carlson, Stereo 60 integrated amplifier, which is missing the tubes. It takes four 7027, or 7027A tubes.  Does anybody know a good source for these tubes, or is there any value in this unit without the tubes as a Vintage / Collectable equipment?

Please reply to Alex Gibber at agibber@juno.com

Hi,

I am presently trying to restore an old S.C. wooden wall phone but have hit a brick wall looking for original parts.  I need a handle and cap for the brass receiver (the handle and cap are made of bakelite and are broken) (the handle screws onto the back of the receiver and the cap screws onto the front)).  I also need the transmitter arm and mouthpiece.  Any info on where I may find S.C. parts is appreciated.

I came across your website while searching for information about the Stromberg Carlson Model 1-A radio. I'm trying to determine if this 1924 radio was the first table model made by the company. I recently acquired the radio and I'm in the process of restoring it for sale. I would like to acquire as much information about it as possible. Interestingly enough, there was a tag attached saying it came from a museum in Arkansas.

Hello-- I happened across a MONSTER pair of Stromberg monblocks; they use 4 6L6GC outputs, have dual 5U4GB rectifiers, and use 4 6SJ7s.  They weigh about 50 lbs each, have potted opt, power, and choke xformers.  All coupling caps are "bathtub" paper-in-oil tyoe, and primitive circuit boards reminiscent of those in early McIntosh and HarmonKardon gear hold the resistors.  What have we got here? They play incredibly loudly... my concern is that they have what may be an input transformer, like many theater amps to operate at 600 ohms.  This is all good, but I like as few xformers in the signal path as possible (my Altec 256Cs had a 600 ohm input, necessitating a output xformer on my preamp... sound smooth as silk but rather veiled and lacking in detail)  Any info GREATLY appreciated!  Thanks!

Hi, I was cruzing the net and found your site.  I don't know if you can help but I thought I'd give it a try.  I have a pair of speakers that have the Stromberg-Carlson 12" 400 coaxial drives in them.  I have been trying to find specs on these speakers and other people that know of them.  I have been into audio systems my whole life and have never heard a speaker sound so sweet.  Thanks in advance for your help. Cheers.

Hi,

I have a Stromberg-Carlson radio/turntable in great shape, still works and it is beautiful.  Model number SP 921-WO.  Can you give me any more info about this item?  We always listened to it as I was growing up and now my parents have given it to me.  How old is it? What is its present value?

Thank you,

Hello Mr. Townsend,

I just gave my 11 year old son Jesse an 8” tall x 7” wide x 8” deep old wooden box with a crank sticking out the side and a pair of wires coming out the other side, nicely wound around a special hook/horns. It has a leather-carrying strap on top and a metal brace to set it on a stand perhaps. I’ve had it for years and am not sure where I scrounged it. I just couldn’t throw away an oak box with obvious radio gear inside. It looks telegraph related and he opened it up, cleaned and oiled it etc. It cranks good now and you can see the odd spark.

Inside is a dynamo type affair attached to the crank, and a bell that would be activated by 2 electromagnetic coils (like a relay). Cast into the dynamo body it says: “Stromberg Carlson Tel. Mfg. Co”  Rochester, NY   Chicago, Illinois

Faintly visible in large (~2 inch tall) capital letter and number on the (original) red paint on the outside of the box it says “F 4”

I looked all over the internet to get a bit of info for him but it must be a bit too old or not unique enough. Then I found your site and email.

If we can bother you, would you know what it is?? Would it be domestic or military (Jesse collects WWII stuff so that would make it a big thrill)

 Sincerely,

Eric van Steenis, Abbotsford, BC Canada.

Hi.I have questions about a Stromberg Carlson Chinese classic TV cabinet in classic ivory.  It was purchased in (i think) 1954.  I was 12 years old at the time.  Unfortunately the tube was damaged, and my father couldn’t get it repaired.  My father had a master carpenter remove the TV, add lighting, and build sliding drawers to convert the cabinet into a lighted bar.  The cabinet is in mint condition.  Could anyone tell me what this might be worth?  My uncle was a radio and TV enthusiast.  He had one of the original Spartan blue lady art deco radios, which he sold for an amazing price, before he passed away.   This is the last collectable piece left in my family and i would like to know what it's worth.  Any info would be appreciated.

Hi,

I was visiting a used bookshop in Philadelphia and saw a dusty old tube amp sitting in a corner. When I asked about it, the owner of the shop offered it to me for free. Naturally, being a fan of tube gear, I happily took it.

What have I got here? The unit is labeled as a Stromberg-Carlson Custom Four Hundred. It also

says "Model 100976 Amplifier."

On the side is stamped 777 Series 102.  It looks like an integrated amp. It uses two 6L6G valves, two 12AU7 valves, one 6X4 valve, and one 5Y3GT/G.  It has a single RCA input, so I'm assuming its mono. Cheers all,

Jake

In our parents estate is a Stromberg Carlson 1210 H.  We will be selling it on Ebay, and are interested in the date and possible worth.  The wood on the top of the radio could use attention, but otherwise in good shape.  We are especially interested in dating it; if you could help us on that one, please, for descriptive purposes.  Thanks so much!!

Dear Sir:

I am seeking information on a Stromberg Carlson cabinet radio (920-L) which I recently purchased from an antique shop that was going out of business.  It is in good shape, seems to work fine.  I have done searches repeatedly on the internet and can't find anything on this particular model.  I would like to find out when it was manufactured, and details on that model, and maybe what it is worth (did I get a good deal or very much overpay?).

Any idea where I can get such information?

Dear sir;

I acquired a carlson/stromberg record player (78/33) an d radio w. glass tubes in a beautiful mahogany oriental style cabinet with heavy ornate carvings on the area surrounding the round wood knobs.  The radio -w. glass tubes- still works and needs, I think, adjusting, and cleaning.  The record player also turns and appears to drop (as it would records) but needs a needle and putting back together.  The cabinet is outstanding. and is in good shape save a few scratches.  Can anyone give me any idea on age, value, buyer, or repairer of the item?

While cleaning out my Grandmother's house in preparation for sale, I came across a Stromberg-Carlson Radio Receiver / Record Player.  It is a large mahogany cabinet and in good condition.  The tag on the back lists it as a "Stromberg Carlson Radio Receiver No. 1121-PF" (I have attached a copy of the tag).  I have not yet attempted to turn it on, so I am not sure if it works, but even if it does not, it would make a good showpiece.  I am very interested in discovering any information that can be shared about this cabinet.

Please post the following on your Stromberg-Carlson bulletin board...

I own a Stromberg-Carlson RF-475 15" coaxial speaker that I bought new in the late 1950's. It is in mint condition and has been well-kept indoors. It's driven by over 50lbs of Alnico V magnet with a dual voice coil, and weighs at least 70lbs. It was, at the time, the Rolls-Royce of speakers for auditoriums, theaters, chapels, and large home installations. With the largest magnet ever put into a speaker, it runs on 40watts and 16ohms, at full, and I mean FULL, volume -- very, very efficient. It's housed in a solid custom-built bass-reflex cabinet, which is not fine furniture, but is quite presentable. I can send you a couple of photos by email, if you like.

Some specs: Seamless Cardinal Cone with phenolic diaphragm driver and parallel gap 3" aluminum voice coil. HF unit is a parametric horn with 5" acoustic lens. LF cone rim is fabric, not paper. Uniform 90degree distribution angle. Diam: 15 3/16", Depth: 10 1/2". Requires 13 1/2" mount opening. Rated at 30-16,500 cps.

Make me an offer -- and don't forget the shipping cost...

Hi,

I inherited a Stromberg-Carlson TV consol gutted.  I know its maker through my grandmother.  It was in her childhood home.

The insides are gone but the outside cabinet is in pretty good shape.  Not excellent as there are some scratches and the door had to be repaired by the hinge.  The wood is a very pretty color and all the hardware for the doors is still secure.  I hate to just trash it but I have no use for it so I am looking for a home.

I am planning to put it out at a yard sale next Saturday and if it doesn’t sell I may get my husband to make a table out of the wood because it is so pretty, if you or anyone you know may be interested in it please contact me ASAP.

I live in Newark, Delaware.

I have a Stromberg Carlson console (phonograph, AM, FM, short wave) model 925PF. Have had is all my life and always loved it. Still has Smoky The Bear 78 sitting on the turntable. Now that I have a grandson I have decided to take the time to get the unit back up and running. Radio still works although the tuner string has broken. I believe there should be four wires connecting to the shortwave antenna but there are only three.

The phonograph seems to have the most problems. I definitely need to replace the two drive wheels and plan on replacing all power cords. Can you point be to a good source of parts? Regarding the replacement of power cords, would you upgrade to modem cords or stay with traditional cloth?

 Any information is deeply appreciated.

Dear Sir,

I have one of each of the Stromberg Carlson AP-55/AP-56.  I'm going to rebuild them. I was wondering if anyone is still active in the shrine to these amplifiers.  I would like to know a little of the history of these amps.  Doing a Google search you will find the shrine.  After reading what I could on the amp, it seems that the output transformer needs to be replaced with a custom wound transformer to improve the bass. Any recommendations you can give me; or if anyone is still active that has accomplished a rebuild can email Dave at dlachappell@comcast.net.   I would sincerely appreciate any help or recommendations as to the extent these amps should be modified, to achieve the greatest frequency response. Thank you.

I am in search of the original art work of the S-C advertisement pictures

Hello,

I recently purchased a 642a that is all there .The cabinet needs refinishing and the radio turns on. There is only one large tube that can be viewed and everything else seems to be under covers. The large tube glows after awhile and if the tuner is turned some weak sounds come from the speaker. In the back of the unit I was told that there is a plug for an exterior antenna in the back of the unit, which I have seen, but there does not seem to be any other antenna. I really hope to get the unit running. I always remember as a child listening to my parents’ radio. If

anyone can give me information as to the age of the radio or about anything else including antenna information i would greatly appreciate it.

Hello!
I was delighted to find your website and hope you can help me identify my mystery item, perhaps date it and estimate its approximate value.
As another of your contacts wrote about a similar item, I am uncertain as to whether this is a telephone, microphone or what.  The lever on the side doesn't appear to be minus any parts, such as a bracket for a mouthpiece.  The bottom is imprinted with the following, as nearly as I can make it out:  T 27 L;  ORDER 22090 PHILA 42;  S 3341 A.
Inside the cord are 3 wires, yellow-, green- and red-wrapped.
I would greatly appreciate your sharing your knowledge with me!  Thanks so much!

I have a Stromberg Carlson Integrity Series Model Sp-975-C radio/tuner/phonograph made by General Dynamics.  The turntable is a Garrard 88 mk II.  It has a mahogany cabinet with cloth panels in the front and all works.  I acquired several years back from a sale at a NC fire department.  Any idea of the value?  The cabinet is in very good shape and the labels are still there.  The serial # is 975110378.

Delightfully we stumbled on to your site when searching by subject title. I have an old Stromberg Carlson stereo console (950 OHM Series II.  The original inspection and identity tag; form 1972, issue 18) is till attached in my garage.  It has a turntable, am/fm stereo, and short-wave radio in a wood cabinet with cloth panels on the two fronts. It is in decent condition (wood scars, etc.) and I was wondering if somebody would know if it was worth anything. See the pictures attached

Hi,

I'm sorry to repeat a question that has already been asked, but my best friend has given me a Stromberg-Carlson stereo 1120-PL.  I was wondering if you could tell me where I could go to get information on it.  I'd like to know when it was made, it's value, and any other information you can direct me to about this stereo.

 Thank you,

My grandfather has left us with an early 1940's console radio.  It is in

excellent condition and perfect working order.  It is a New World Model

1210M2 and it says series 12.  Is there any demand for such radios and if so

what might something like this sell for?  Any information would be

appreciated.  whaler17@charter.net   thanks Trace

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone might know approximately when my Stromberg Carlson Shure Model MC 41 Ultra-Cardiod Dynamic Multi-Impedence Microphone (Serial Number 5729V) was made -- also wondering how or if it differs from a Shure Model 55 of the same era? Any advice appreciated. Thanks and best regards.

Hi,

I have a Stromberg-Carlson microphone Model 7 C and wanted to know if you could give me any of the following information: - year manufactured - where I can locate a cable to connect it to a recording device - approximate value

The mic appears to be in good shape (it's built very rugged!)

I came across a picture of this very similar Stromberg-Carlson mic model (MD 27 according to the website).

http://users.pandora.be/oldmicrophones/fullmikropics/strombergcarlsonmd27.JPG">

The differences are:

- the cable connector and stand threads are reversed

- the serial number plate is on the front face of my 7C

- the swivel is on the back half of the base

Thanks for your help!

Best,

Colin

Greetings!

I have a Stromberg-Carlson SP-921 stereo and turntable my father bought new in 1960.  I have the sales receipt also.  New it was $609.95.  Can you tell me what it might be worth and if people are still interested in something like this?  It still works fine and is in excellent condition.  The cabinet looks beautiful.  I no longer have the space to keep it and am wondering what to do with it.

After a long hard search of the internet (with no luck) i was so happy to come across your site. Hopefully I can get some info on a  (Stromberg Carlson microphone-model- MD-38S ) I received from a old friend who has since passed away. It came to me in a box that says (Shure 545s Unidyne III ) inside a red bag that also says ( Shure ) The microphone is apprx 10 inches long including the "pistol grip" that has the on off switch, threaded connector & threaded stand connector. It fits inside the red bag with no problem, is it possible that it was made for Shure by Stromberg Carlson ?? Any info on this would be greatly appreciated. Possibly the ( age, value, what its use could have been) and where i might find a four prong connector patch cord for it. ...Please feel free to contact me at...

Hi:
I picked up a Stromberg-Carlson Model 1205-L today in pretty tough shape, but the price was right so I made an impulse purchase.   It looks like it has about 14 tubes, and was a fairly fancy radio (Short Wave, FM, and Broadcast).
Do you know anything about this unit? (When was it made? Is it worth restoring? Was it a high-end model?)
I don't know a thing about it, but I was buying some other items, and picked it up as well since it looked interesting.  I enclosed a couple pictures if that helps.
 Thanks,

Hello,

Could you direct me to any web sites that would have information on a Stromberg Carlson "Harmonic Converter"

It appears to be a telegraphic device with a tuned (10 cycles/sec) resonator with a large transformer and connections to a battery, key and line.

It is in an oak cabinet with a glass cover to observe the mechanism that is mounted on a slate slab.

It was manufactured in Rochester NY, I would guess about 1900.

I have scanned the web (eBay, wikipedia and telegraphic history sites) for info but have come up with nothing specific on the device.

Thank You,

Hello everyone!

I inherited a Stromberg-Carlson stereo console Model SP-741M from my grandmother in 1998.  I'm in a position now where I can restore it, but would like some documentation.  Does anyone have any usable service data I could obtain for copying fees?

This unit is in good condition except for a large scratch across the top, and I fear the cartridge or stylus is probably shot, too.  Any information is appreciated!  Thanks in advance.

Hello/Bonjour,
I found a Stromberg Carlson model#863 (can't tell when it was made) in the garbage. The cabinet is in good shape. I only had to replace the plug on the power cord to make the radio work. The turntable works partially. I rub a paper lightly on the needle and I hear sound. The problem is when i move the arm the table doesn’t turn. Do you think it's a burnt motor, faulty switch, wire or just a young guy who doesn't know how to operate a turntable that's more than 50 years old?
thanx for your consideration.

Hi    My Mother has a Stromberg Carlson combination record player radio. It is a model 863   0.65 amps   117 line watts   25-60 cycles    serial #8630812. It is a console model and is not in bad shape. I was wondering where I could find out some info (such as what year) and what it could possibly be worth as she is moving into a suite. Thanks for your time and trouble.

My wife and I have a Stromberg-Carlson record player

and stereo Model RP-761 WO. It looks to be from the

1960's. The body is in excellent shape but the

turntable spins a little noisily and the radio does

not seem to be getting power. We love it as a piece of

furniture but do not necessarily have room in the

house and we would prefer to be able to play our lp's

on it. We are trying to determine its value should we

decide to sell it. I would appreciate hearing from

anyone knowledgeable on this subject.

Hello,

in my search for info on Strombergs, I ran across your site. I own 3 Strombergs and 1 Masco ME-36 right now. The Strombergs are; AU-57, AU-33, and SAU-33. I have Sam's photo facts for the Au-57 and 33, but not for the SAU-33. Do you know anyone who can locate it for me? I would certainly expect to pay for it. Electronic or hard copy would be fine.

Also, is there any info you are interested in about these amps? I would be glad to send it along if I have it.

Thank you, jerry

I told my dad I would help him find out what I could about this Stromberg Carlson. He got it from his mother (my grandmother), who used to deal a fair amount of antiques. I believe he said it came as part of an estate she got some items from. It is in great shape and works good. The radio sounds great. How old do you think it is? What would something like this be worth?

Hi,

My fiancé rehabs old houses and recently found a Stromberg Carlson floor model record player/radio. It is all solid wood, the record player/turntable is inside of a drawer on the left side of the console and the radio, tuner and speaker are on the right side. It is in beautiful shape. Taped in the back (inside) was an original envelope with little stickers and they say "call Letters". I can't find much info on this beautiful antique. I would tell you the model number, but cannot find it. Do you know where I could find it? Or maybe you know the approximate age of the record player. I would love to know, the age, value and where I could get parts if needed. I could not see myself ever parting with it, but I would like to keep it in the shape its in to pass on to my son someday. Thanks for any help you can give us.

Hi, my church has Stromberg-Carlson Model BK42 sound equipment installed to ring the bells, it is currently not functioning, and has not in a number of years, no one is sure why it is not functioning whether it is broken or was turned off, we have heard that it may have been turned off due to the neighborhoods complaints of the bells ringing on Sunday mornings. Anyway no one knows how to operate it and we cannot find an operating manual, would you know where we could find the operating instructions for this equipment.

Thanks

I have what we think is a small switchboard/desk with Stromberg Carlson label on back.  It is mahogany with a drop down door on front and a pull out writing shelf.  There are 15 round holes in back and 4 on bottom presumably to connect phone extensions, etc. for possible a small office or hotel.  Anyone know anything about these and what they are worth, please contact me at

Stromberg-Carlson Radio Receiver 952PP

I just today acquired the cabinet only which displays inside a paper sheet showing the information as above.  It seems it is made in 1939 or 1940 by Stromberg-Carlson Telephone Mfg. Co. Limited, Toronto, Ontario.  I have been on the www.audiophool.cjb.net/MadeInRoch.html website and there is a wealth of information there - thank you.  The model "952P" is noted as being Canadian, however there is no "952PP" model noted on that site.

I am a "baby" senior but have never heard of a "Radio Receiver".  I have a small collection of antique radios, victrolas and sewing machines and would like to hear from someone who can tell me what a radio receiver is/does.  The cabinet is a floor model 18" wide, 14.5" deep and 31" high.  The top part is 2" deep with a non-functioning handle at the front and the top lifts up to reveal cutouts and screw holes.  The second compartment has a drop-down front with a centered handle same as the top part and is 9.5" deep.  There are four large holes equidistant from the corners and the right side has an additional four holes in the center of the 2 corner holes.

I am very interested in knowing what the inside of this cabinet originally looked like and contained and hope someone has some information for me.

Thank you. laura.pratt@sympatico.ca

Hello.  I recently found your website when looking up info about a Stromberg-Carlson I just picked up for free.

It is a model FR-503, record player, AM/FM, Aux in, with two large speakers, all built in.  I have never owned or used a turntable before, but have a basic understanding of how stereos and records work.

I was wondering if you could give me a bit of help, or point me in the correct direction:

First off, the turntable will not spin very fast, no matter the setting.
Second, I can get a bit of sound with the record spinning slowly, but no sound coming from either band of radio.  I am going to try a newer antenna for that.

Also, I have no plans to sell, but what do you think the approx. value would be?

Thank you for your help.

Mr. Townsend:

I'm writing to update contact information from my post from some time back regarding research on the history of the Stromberg-Carlson Special Products Division (audio products).

The project is ongoing, and I would especially like to hear from anyone connected with the S-C company audio division in Rochester, circa 1945-1965.  I've thus far been unsuccessful in making contact with Mr. Richard Bangs who had posted here quite some time ago, and was a manager at S-C in the Fifties, and whom I believe may now be living in AZ or CA.  My new contact info is as follows:
